Cognition is any action done to [[information|information]]. Any agent can perform cognition, however, I am human, and therefore, I am mainly interested in human cognition. Our entire experience is defined through cognition. Everything we know, every action we take, and every goal we have is all the result of our cognitive processes. This isn't an attempt to sanitize our condition into some set of operations. We are full of feeling, and it is through that very privilege we are able to turn our attention inward to study the syntax of life itself. It is obvious then, why I am interested in cognition. There's much work to do. I don't believe we as a society are engaging sufficiently with this concept. We are distracted by psychology and convention, missing the harvest right in front of us. Now, more than ever, just in time for a new form of cognition (AI). And just to pitch it, the following list of highly desirable and impactful skills are all the result of effective cognition: intelligence, problem solving, creativity, judgement, modelling, decision making, planning, agency, learning, etc...
