My approach to writing is that a piece is never finished. Perfection is the destination and we can never reach it. There's nothing wrong with that.
Back in the print days, a piece had to be fully finished because it is published once and permanently printed. Now, we are in the digital world. Things can be changed and distributed at no cost or friction. Thus, I see no reason not to edit writing like updating software. Always more to do, always improving. This method also eliminates perfectionism entirely.
I want my work to reflect this continuous pursuit. Thus, I have intentionally designed the following writing methodology.
Every piece is a living and updated document. It contains notes, drafts, tasks, references etc. It's never final. Yet, every now and then, I will take a snapshot of the work. Tie up any immediate loose ends, lay out a neat presentation and "publish" it. Published pieces have a version next to them, and every new version will be its own separate document.
I want also to have the concept of time embedded in my writings. I am aware of how pieces will change as I gain more experience, make more observations, and apply new skills. This will be a theme that I express through the format itself.
Writing takes time. Thus, sometimes I will shortcut a piece by using AI to communicate a draft on my behalf. AI pieces will be versioned with an added preview tag. For example, My Writing Philosophy 0.2 (Preview).
